Stylistically and aesthetically diverse, New China Festival featured three translated Chinese plays expressing the multiplicities of Chinese life. These plays examine a Chinese society grappling with accelerating change, generational divides, consumerism, communism, and tensions between authoritarianism and personal freedom.
New China Festival also included a panel discussion about the state of theatre in the Chinese-speaking world and the insights American audiences can gain from Chinese plays.
