Dramatizing Aphasia: Arts, Speech, and Healing

On February 7, 2022, Jamil Khoury and Malk Gillani kicked off Silk Road Rising's partnership with Texas Tech University's Stroke and Aphasia Recovery (STAR) Program and Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts by participating in a special panel discussion about aphasia, neuro-recovery, and the arts.

Dramatizing Aphasia: Arts, Speech, and Healing inaugurates a multi-year collaboration between artists, scientists, and speech pathologists. Aphasia is a language disorder that is most often induced by stroke, aneurysm, or traumatic brain injury. While there is no known "cure" for aphasia, there is tremendous potential for recovery.
